BANKING ROLE-PLAY

The purpose of this activity is getting the students speaking about all of the terms related to finances. In particular, students will role-play being either bank clients or bankers. The bank clients will visit the bank and will talk to the bankers about loans. The group of students who represents a company must defend their business project and bankers will decide if the project is good enough to generate profits to give back the money.
The group who represent the company could use some structures like these:
• We have in mind to develop the next project….
• Our business could be profitable because….
• We need money to buy…..
• What is the interest we must pay for the loan?

 

The students who role-play bankers could use some expressions such as:
• What is the project you have in mind?
• Why have you chosen that project?
• Do you think that you will be able to give back the loan?
• Our final decision has been…..we borrow the money/ We think you won’t be able to give the money back..
